Q: What do you charge?
A: This depends upon the nature of the project, the area of operations and the team involved. Generally, however, the costs will be broken down into three categories:

per diems for team members (often based on their pay rates);
operating costs that are directly linked to the contract or reasonable insurance costs (for foreign travel); and
travel, accommodation, and meal costs where required.

We use the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat rates for travel, accommodation and meal costs. We have provided the link for these costs on the right.

Where we are operating in an environment with a risk to personal safety, we may also require the costs associated with reasonable protection to be included as part of the contract.

Q: We are looking to use your material for training our own people, but need to be efficient about this. What flexibility do you offer?
A: First, the decision to allow an outside body to offer our training has to be taken in the context of any regulatory regimes or oversight that we must comply with. We cannot simply include all training (such as marine security leading to Canadian certification) in this category because the oversight bodies do not accept that kind of business model.

Where this is not the case, however, we can work with you through a train-the-trainer approach that allows for a cadre of your people to undergo more rigorous training before they can offer the course. In these cases, we generally include steps associated with Quality Assurance (such as audits, etc of the courses you offer) and continuous learning to ensure that your organization receives the best value possible.

In other cases, we can work with your organization on developing training and overseeing its delivery from a Quality Assurance perspective. This approach may be preferable when the training would likely benefit from the use of proprietary information (etc) that is not suitable for release or discussion in a more public venue.
